ORDER:

1. The Election Commission of India in the references 1st and 2nd read above, has announced the schedule for conduct of General Elections to House of Parliament, 2024 and Bye Election to certain Assembly Constituencies.

2.The Election Commission of India vide reference 3rd read above, has issued detailed guidelines on postal ballot papers. As per Rule 18A, "Voters on election duty to cast his vote at facilitation center, Notwithstanding anything in this Part, a voter on election duty shall receive his postal ballot, record his vote thereon in accordance with this Part and return the same at the facilitation center, as specified, in writing, by the returning officer". ECI has mandated that voters on election duty to cast their votes by postal ballot at Voter Facilitation Centres (VFCs).

3.Therefore, after careful consideration of the instructions of the Election Commission of India, it is hereby directed that appropriate authorities shall grant one day Special Casual Leave to the employees on election duty to enable them to cast their vote through postal ballot at Voter Facilitation Centers, upon their request.

4.The Departments of Secretariat / Heads of Departments / District Collectors and other appropriate authorities are requested to take necessary action accordingly.
